Ultimate Packing List

When you start to travel, it can be difficult and overwhelming to pack for a journey. However, the more you do it, the easier it becomes and your packing items become rather standard with some minor adjustments based on your destination or duration of your adventure. I wanted to share my own list with you to give you an idea of what to pack.

I keep a packing checklist on my phone after all these years so I can pack casually, keeping in mind what I always need. I use the ColorNotes app to consult my list to check and uncheck accordingly until I’m ready to walk out my door. I always add things to do at the top of the list like ‘Water plants’ and ‘Take out garbage.’

Passport
Chargers
Sunglasses
Wallet / cash / credit cards / IDs
Chapstick
Travel pillow
Medicine (Rx / over the counter -for me ibuprofen, antacid, antibacterial cream for cuts)
Jacket
Sweatshirt/Long-sleeve
Headphones
Deodorant
Tablet / book
Camera (sometimes I like to bring my digital and sometimes I bring a disposable 35mm)
Notebook
External Battery
Peştemel (Turkish Peştemel, specifically the bamboo hamam towel is perfect for a towel or a scarf; they’re lightweight, dry quickly and stylish)
Hair moisturizer
Shampoo/conditioner
Soap
Facewash
Face Cream (usually something with SPF)
Qtips
Toothbrush/toothpaste
Tweezers
Razor
Lock
Backpack (for exploring during the day so I can carry water, essentials, and room for my discarded layers or things I have bought)
Flip Flops (for the beach, house slippers, or shower shoes)
Tampons/liners/pads
Nail clippers
PJs (one set for whatever weather awaits)
Shorts / pants
Tshirts
Dress (it’s good to have at least one thing that might want to go out in and look nice)
Socks / Underwear / Bra
Jewelry (usually 2 different necklaces and several pairs of earrings)
Sun hat / Sunscreen (if I’m going to the beach)

  1. Tampons!! Yes. For beach anyway, don’t use them otherwise. My whole trip to Philippines was pretty much ruined as they’re hard to come by (only pads available) in smaller villages/islands and my period came unexpectedly. So many places I wanted to swim 😩
